Ushinohone Anaza

The best Izakaya we found in Kyoto. Every dish we tried (and we tried a lot) was delicious. We came back again because the Uni was so spectacular. The wait staff, while limited in English, was very helpful and polite and in the end we had no trouble ordering what we wanted. This place is a real gem.

Absolutely delicious food! It felt quite scary to walk in as it was almost empty and everyone was staring at us, but then it filled with people within 15 mins and immediately felt lively and warm. Obanzai was incredible, Kyoto style tofu is amazing. There's a digital menu available so it's easy to translate. And as with any izakayas in Japan, they offer a little snack for a small seating fee of ₹300.

The food was so delicious I even forgot to take a photo of some of what we ordered!! Delicious izakaya fare that is distinct from other food you will try in Japan and even in Kyoto. The stew is soo delicious, you won't regret ordering it! I recommend the soft roe tempura as well. Great price point and lovely vibe. The staff were so nice and patient when I returned trying to find one of my misplaced bags, several of them carefully checked the room and even the chef came out He was so apologetic and kind. I'm so sorry for the trouble and very thankful for your efforts. This was a memorable dinner for us and we will definitely return again the next time we visit Kyoto, and I will recommend this to my friends and family as well. Food, service, vibe and price, all 10 out of 5!!

Maybe the best dinner we had in Japan! Everything was very tasty! We loved it. I would have skipped the salmon potato salad (good but not exceptional) but in general everything was great! Definitely coming back!

If you are in Kyoto, you HAVE TO come here! It is exceptional. The service is amazing, the food is to die for and the ambiance is even better. If you can, dishes I recommend 10/10 are: Grilled prawns with avocado, shiitake mushrooms, Poivrons Mangaji, Sweet potato and Cream Mochis and also the Kyoto style Pork was incredible. get the Matcha or pumpkin catalana cake for dessert and I can assure you will have one of the best meal in Japan hands down!!!!!

Izakaya frequented by locals. We were here on our first night in Kyoto and it was easily one of the best meals we had for the trip. We ate well and ordered alot. Best dishes of the night include satoimo with ankimo liver in cheese sauce, wagyu beef, beef stew, cod fish rice pot. The restaurant even had a handwritten note (addressing us directly) to welcome us. Will definitely come back again next time in Kyoto.
